What is Cell Searcher?
Cell Searcher is a java program that run on mobile devices and can be
used to capture and save information about current station the device
is connected to. Currently, there are two editions available: JAVA ME and Android edition. The recommended edition is for Android because it has more advanced features.
What are the main features of the Cell Searcher?
The main features are:
- Displaying all current cell info (e.g. Cell ID, LAC,
Network name, etc.).
- Possibility to load additional cell information form a
database (.clf) file. The database file can contain cell location and
description.
- Displaying a radar which shows the cell location relative
to the current device position. This feature works on devices with
integrated GPS.
- Displaying a map form the OpenStreetMap with marked device
and cell location.
- Displaying signal level plot
- Integration with the on-line OpenCellID database. The
integration makes it possible to retrieve cell information (e. g.
location) from the database. Cell Searcher can also submit new data to
the database.
- Saving log files with useful data about cells.
- Saving location tracks in the gpx files format.
- Sound notification on the current cell change.

How to install Cell Searcher?
After downloading the .zip file, unpack the files and copy them to a
device. Run the files manager on the device and launch the
cellsearcher.jad file. The program should be installed on the device.
What are the software and hardware requirements?
The device must be Java enabled and be compatible with the MIDP 2.0.
For the location tracking the device should also have an integrated GPS
receiver or be connected to the external GPS receiver.

Information about the developer
The program is developed by Rafał Frączek. The application also
contains the MicroFloat library developed by David Clausen.
